My daughter Ava had a rough night last night. She and her sister Thérèse are identical twins, and they both have asthma. This winter has proved troublesome for them, but more so for Ava. Around 2 AM, she ran into our room, panicking, as she couldn’t breathe. Very scary for all of us. We managed to get the breathing under control after medication, a hot shower (in case she had pollutants in her long hair or on her body) and lots of prayers.
Although Thérèse slept through this all, she is highly sensitive to her sister and others’ needs and pain. This portrait was taken of Thérèse as she sat on our stairs in the afternoon sun. Ava had gone to bed, and I think Thérèse felt out of sorts.
